Both Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman will now have to go through a mandatory 14-day quarantine period in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board although tried to convince the authorities so that the quarantine period could be less, it did not happen as well. “As per the government protocol, they will have to go through a mandatory institutional quarantine in one of the hotels in Dhaka,” a source said.
However, the IPL 2021 got postponed after several players got affected by Covid-19 as it broke out inside the bio-bubble in multiple cities like Ahmedabad and New Delhi as well. It started with two Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have tested positive and that led to the cancellation of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Soon after, three support staff of CSK reported positive and later Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha have eventually tested positives too that led to the cancellation of the cash-rich league for the time being.
