Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has banned by ICC. However, he has stepped down from the World Cricket Committee of the MCC as well. The 32-year-old player was banned on Tuesday for 2 years in which one year of it suspended, for not reporting the approaches by suspected bookie Deepak Aggarwal to the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit. The suspension will see his exclusion from next month’s series against India, and the IPL and also the T20 World Cup next year.
“…Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) can today confirm that Al Hasan has stepped down from his involvement with the MCC World Cricket committee,” the club stated in a press release.
Shakib Al Hasan, however, accepted all the charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and he does not have the right to appeal against the punishment as well. He had joined the MCC World Cricket committee in 2017. The MCC World Cricket committee is comprised of current and former international cricketers and umpires around the globe and they meet twice yearly to discuss the prevalent issues in the game. The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in March 2020.

“We are sorry to lose Shakib from the committee, where he has made a great contribution over the last couple of years. As guardians of the Spirit of Cricket we support his resignation and believe this was the right decision,” said Mike Gatting, Chairman of the World Cricket committee.
The world’s No.1 ODI all-rounder was approached by Aggarwal thrice, according to the media release by the ICC. One of them was on April 26, 2018, during the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab. However, Bangladesh’s series against India will begin with the T20 International games, from November 3, and then the Test series will be played which also include the maiden day-night test.
