Mumbai Indians (MI) bowling coach Shane Bond has come forward and reasoned behind Arjun Tendulkar not playing a single game in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He said that the young all-rounder still has some more work to do “on his batting and fielding, particular”. Arjun Tendulkar was picked up by MI for INR 30 lakh in the mega auction but the 22-year-old did not get to play a single game in the recently-concluded season.

The young left-arm seamer Arjun has been part of the Mumbai Indians squad as a net bowler for the last few years. MI had picked the young pacer in the auction for the 2021 IPL. Arjun didn’t get a game in the previous edition but the five-time champions again added him to the 2022 squad.

During a recent chat with Sportskeeda, Shane Bond said, “He’s got some work to do. When you’re playing for a team like Mumbai, making the squad is one thing but entering the playing XI is another. He still has a lot of hard work and development to do. When you play at this level, there’s a fine line between giving everyone a game… but you have to earn your spot too.”

He further explained, “Arjun needs to work on his batting and fielding before finding a place on the team. Hopefully, he can make those progressions and earn a spot in the team.”
