Virat Kohli is enduring a rare dip in form during IPL 2026, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru superstar registering back-to-back ducks and going four consecutive matches without a half-century. Ahead of RCB’s crucial clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur, KKR assistant coach Shane Watson admitted his side is hoping Kohli continues his aggressive approach that led to his dismissal against Mumbai Indians.

Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck in RCB’s previous outing after attempting an attacking stroke early in his innings. While Watson acknowledged the former RCB captain’s unmatched ability to bounce back, he also suggested that KKR would look to exploit any signs of vulnerability from the batting icon.

“We just hope that he tries to play a shot like he did in the last game — a more aggressive shot right at the start of his innings,” Shane Watson said during the pre-match press conference.

Despite Kohli’s recent struggles, Watson made it clear that KKR remain wary of the danger he poses. The former Australia all-rounder praised Kohli’s game awareness and ability to adapt quickly under pressure.

“Every team has plans against Virat where they think there’s a weakness, but with ‘King’ Kohli, he usually finds a way to navigate through those challenges,” Shane Watson added.

Watson further stressed the importance of striking early against Kohli before he settles into rhythm. “We know we have to be switched on from ball one. If Virat gets going, he builds the platform for RCB incredibly well,” he said.
