Shardul Thakur And Stuart Broad Likely To Miss The Lord’s Test

The veteran English fast bowler, Stuart Broad will be missing the second Test of the 5-match series against India after tweaking his right calf during a warm-up at the Lord’s in London on Tuesday. Apart from him, the Indian pacer, Shardul Thakur also seems to be in doubt for the 2nd Test as he is struggling with a hamstring problem.

In a statement regarding the same, ECB wrote: “England seamer Stuart Broad has tweaked his right calf in today’s warm-up at Lord’s. He was unable to train this afternoon with the rest of the England squad. Broad will have a scan tomorrow to determine the extent of his injury.”

According to a report in ‘The Guardian’, Broad twisted his “right ankle” after he slipped “while undertaking a light warm-up jog.”

Meanwhile, Guardian also went on to report that there is an injury scare in the Indian team as well be the fast bowling all-rounder, Shardul Thakur ‘struggling with a hamstring problem’. Thakur played the first Test as the fourth Indian faster, and if he failed to make it to the playing XI, India could include the veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin.

England is already missing Jofra Archer due to an elbow injury and soon he will be undergoing an operation as well, while all-rounder Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break to focus on mental health. For India, Shardul Thakur took crucial wickets in the first Test.
