Shardul Thakur sidelined from Mumbai’s quarter-final clash

Sharduk Thakur will miss the quarter-final clash for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy against Karnataka, which is scheduled to take place from December 7. He is a prime bowler for his domestic side but has been sidelined after sustaining a shoulder injury during Mumbai’s last league match against Tripura.

Also, their premium batsman Shreyas Iyer will miss this clash as he has been named in the Indian ODI squad for Sri Lanka series. Aditya Tare will lead the team in the knock out match, while sensational youngster Prithvi Shaw and opener Jay Bista retained their position.

A Mumbai Association official revealed to PTI that Thakur was advised some rest for rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Akhil Herwadkar, Siddesh Lad, Surya Kumar Yadav, senior pro-Dhawal Kulkarni, medium pacer Akash Parkar and left-arm spinner Karsh Kothari also feature in the squad for the match.

The 41-time champion will play in Nagpur for a place in the semis.
