Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the seventh match of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first, backing his team’s ability to chase despite SRH’s formidable batting lineup at home. His decision proved right early on, thanks to a sensational over from Shardul Thakur, who removed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan off consecutive deliveries in the third over.

Shardul’s first victim was Abhishek Sharma, who mistimed a short ball on leg stump straight into the hands of Nicholas Pooran at deep square leg. The very next delivery saw Ishan Kishan gloving a harmless leg-side delivery to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.

While the LSG skipper barely reacted to the dismissal, Thakur erupted in celebration as the umpire instantly raised his finger. A disappointed Kishan walked off without even considering a review.

At the toss, Pant emphasized the importance of restricting SRH early, stating, “Doesn’t matter how many they score, we’re going to chase it down.” He also confirmed Avesh Khan’s fitness, which meant Shahbaz Ahmed missed out. Additionally, LSG brought in Abdul Samad as a bowling option, with M Siddharth making way for him.
