In a thrilling encounter at Eden Gardens, Punjab Kings (PBKS) scripted history with a spectacular chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024. Shashank Singh emerged as the hero, propelling PBKS to their highest-ever successful chase in men’s T20 cricket. Shashank’s heroics not only secured victory but also entertained fans with his unique celebration, imitating the iconic pose of KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan.

The video shared by PBKS on X (formerly Twitter) captured the moment as Shashank stretched his arms, echoing SRK’s signature move, and thanked the Eden Gardens crowd amidst the tune of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Throughout the IPL season, Shashank has proven himself as a reliable middle-order batsman for PBKS.

With an impressive strike rate of 182.64, he has amassed 263 runs, showcasing his batting prowess consistently. However, his performance against KKR was exceptional, marking his second fifty of the season and playing a pivotal role in PBKS’s historic chase.

In a video shared on social media, Shashank Singh replicated SRK’s iconic pose, extending his arms and expressing gratitude with the tune of “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” playing in the background.

 

KKR set a daunting target of 261 runs, courtesy of a strong start from their opening pair, Philip Salt and Sunil Narine. Despite their efforts, PBKS remained undeterred, led by impact player Prabhsimran Singh and the resurgent Jonny Bairstow. The duo amassed 93 runs in the powerplay before Prabhsimran’s departure after a quickfire 54.

Bairstow, finding his form at the right moment, partnered with Rilee Rossouw to build a solid foundation. After Rossouw’s dismissal, Shashank joined forces with Bairstow, guiding PBKS towards victory with an unbeaten 68-run knock. Bairstow’s explosive century, comprising nine sixes and eight fours, laid the groundwork for Shashank’s aggressive play, featuring eight sixes.

Their unbeaten partnership ensured PBKS reached the target in just 18.4 overs, securing a memorable win and etching their names in IPL history. With this remarkable performance, PBKS showcased their determination and resilience, setting the stage for an exhilarating season ahead.
