Australia batsman Shaun Marsh is ready to bat at any place in the upcoming ICC World Cup. However, his position in the team is currently not fixed after returning of the former captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner after their one-year bans due to the ball-tampering scandal. Marsh scored an unbeaten half-century against West Indies in their unofficial warm-up game while sharing a century stand with Steve Smith.
Meanwhile, Marsh said, “I’d like to think I’m nice and flexible, I’ve batted from one to six throughout my career. I’m just going to try and enjoy the next two practice games and spend more time out in the middle and see what happens.”
West Indies managed to put up a mere total which Australia chased down with ease within 40 overs. Steve Smith was the top-scorer with 76 and Shaun Marsh scored 55*. However, Marsh scored plenty of runs last year against England in the five-match bilateral series which Australia, unfortunately, lost by 5-0. He became the highest run-getter with 288 runs at an average of 57.60, including two centuries. With Warner and Smith’s return, Marsh’s place is in danger as Usman Khawaja had an amazing series against India.

“It certainly gives you confidence if you’ve scored runs here in the past, it was nice to spend some time out in the middle and get my feet moving. I enjoy batting out here. Obviously, it’s a different challenge. The wickets are slower [compared] to what they are back home, and it swings around a bit,” he added.
Australia will start their campaign in the World Cup against Afghanistan on June 1 in Bristol. Prior to that, they will take on England and Sri Lanka in the two warm-up games on May May 25 and 27 respectively.
