Former Australian speedster, Shaun Tait, is one of the few bowlers who have touched the 100 mph mark with their bowling speed in international cricket. For Tait, the occasion arrived during the fifth ODI of Australia’s tour of England in 2010 at Lord’s, London.
Having won the last ODI at The Oval by 78 runs, Ricky Ponting, the then Australian captain, won the toss and chose to bat. Australia ended up scoring 277-7 in 50 overs, with half-centuries from Tim Paine (54), Shaun Marsh (59) and Michael Hussey (79). With bowling figures of 10-0-64-4, Stuart Broad was the pick of the English bowlers.
Tait opened the bowling for Australia against Andrew Strauss and Craig Kieswetter. He achieved the 100 mph feat in the first over itself and ended up with a ‘Man of the Match’ bowling figures of 8.3-0-48-4. England could only manage 235-10 in 46.3 overs.
