Former Australia fast bowler, Shaun Tait has expressed his interest in becoming the bowling coach of Bangladesh after Ottis Gibson had no intention of renewing his contract. Gibson has been appointed as the head coach of Yorkshire CCC and his contract will be commencing next month. Meanwhile, Tait has worked as the bowling coach of the Afghanistan team during the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman last year.
Shaun Tait will be working with the Chattogram Challengers during the upcoming season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), starting from January 21. The Bangladesh Cricket Board will be looking for possible replacements for Gibson. Meanwhile, Tait has said that he would love to work with the team.
As per the quotes in Cricbuzz, Shaun Tait said, “I’m interested for sure. Absolutely. They (BCB) have got some time to think about who they are going to go with. It’ll be a great job.”

The 38-year-old was seen showering praises on the cricketers and cricket in general in the country. He also spoke about the young left arm pacer Shoriful Islam saying that the left armer has played enough cricket to be aware of his game.
Talking about Bangladesh cricket, Shaun Tait said, “In general, the stage Bangladesh cricket is in, there are so many good young players. They could become great players. Shoriful is an aggressive left arm bowler. He is gonna be extremely important in this team. He has played enough cricket now to know what he is doing. So, I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The former Aussie speedster further added that the team has decent depth of young players and the next five to seven years are going to be exciting for the game in the nation.
He further elaborated, “Bangladesh have got quite a decent depth of young players, even fast bowlers. The next 5-6-7 years are gonna be exciting for cricket here in Bangladesh.”

BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus said that they are glad to know that Tait is interested to work with the national team but added that the board will see how he fare in the BPL before taking a call. As per the quotes in Cricbuzz, Jalal further added, “We are glad to know that he is interested to work with us. He (Tait) has come here to work with Challengers in BPL and we will see how he fares there.”
