Despite good performances in domestic cricket, the 35-year-old batter from Gujarat, Sheldon Jackson, was not included in the India A side for the upcoming red-ball series against New Zealand-A. The India A and West Zone Duleep Trophy squads were announced on Wednesday and the wicket-keeper batter couldn’t make it to any of the two. Reacting to his snub, the cricketer expressed his disappointment by posting a cryptic tweet.

Sheldon Jackon has been one of the most popular names in the Indian domestic circuit and had performed well recently with almost 2000 runs in the last three seasons. It was expected that Sheldon will be selected in the India A squad, however, his age seems to not be going his way.

Sheldon Jackon reacted to the omission from India A squad on Wednesday evening as he went on to post about it on Twitter. He tweeted, “I have a right to believe and dream that if i have performed for 3 continuous season, i may get picked on the basis of my performances not age, tired of hearing this that im a good player and performer but im old, im 35 not 75”.

The fans had mixed reactions to Sheldon’s tweet. While some fans were seen sympathizing with the batter, one of the fans pointed out that the batter had a terrible IPL season. The fan mentioned that it was due to Sheldon’s poor performance in the IPL that he is not being considered now. He wrote: “I understand your pain but you were terrible in the IPL. All that hype; fizzled. Sorry”.  Jackson then went on to reply to the fan’s comment by accepting the fact that he wasn’t up to the mark in the IPL.

Sheldon Jackson wrote: “Hey, I understand you’re upset with me, and I was angry with myself too coz I haven’t got anything in cricket easily or early, but in cricket, it happens no matter how much you try at times, things don’t go your way, I’m sorry I couldn’t show you how good I actually am, someday”.

Sheldon Jackson has been a part of the KKR squad for a couple of years now. Though he didn’t get to play a single match in the 2021 season, he was given chances this year. He played 5 matches this year where he could score just 23 runs at an average of 5.75 and a strike rate of 88.46.
