The premier Indian wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant met a horrific car accident on December 30 2022, as he was traveling from New Delhi to Roorkee, Uttarakhand, to surprise his family and celebrate New year with them. Pant’s car had slammed into a divider before flipping multiple times and catching fire. Luckily, the 25-year-old survived the near-fatal accident as he managed to escape in time with the help of some locals.
Commenting on the unfortunate incident, the veteran Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan recently revealed in an interview that in the past he once saw Pant driving once after which he advised the youngster to keep a check on his speed.

During a chat on Aaj Tak, Shikhar Dhawan said, “I saw him drive once, I am happy that Rishabh managed to survive that accident. He is recovering well. I keep talking to him. I saw him drive once and told him to drive cars slowly. I didn’t even remember that interview, I don’t know how it cropped up on social media.”
The southpaw further said that even he used to drive rashly in at Pant’s age and advised youngsters to keep their adrenaline rush in check during such moments.

Explaining it further, Shikhar Dhawan said, “I spoke my heart that day. But when you are 20-21, you have that extra enthusiasm in your life… it’s not like Rishabh drove his car rashly, at that age, I have also driven rashly. Many others would have done the same. At these times, you have to keep your adrenaline rush in check, it’s important. Yes, I did give him advice.”
Following Pant’s accident, an old video of Dhawan advising the wicketkeeper batter to be careful while driving went viral on social media. In the video, Pant could be seen asking for a piece of advice from the veteran cricketer to which he replies, “Gaadi araam se chalaya kar (Please drive slowly).”
