Shikhar Dhawan is back in the nets to get match ready for Test series. Yeah, he has regained full fitness before the series opener against South Africa in Cape Town.
Dhawan injured his ankle before boarding onto the plane for Rainbow nation. He was seen lumping in the lobby of hotel before Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s reception in Mumbai.
However, he returned to the nets and team management has cleared the clouds hovering over his availability for Cape Town Test.
A member of team management said “Dhawan is fine and there is no discomfort as he hit the nets today. You can see he is moving freely. But a final call on the playing XI isn’t something that I can talk about. That is for the coach and captain to decide.”
Afterwards, a mail from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the same, which reads “India opener Shikhar Dhawan is fit and is available for selection for the first Test. Mr. Dhawan had suffered a minor ankle injury before the team’s departure to South Africa.”
Thus, KL Rahul may sit out from this game as team management can stick to the right-left combination.
