Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24, marking the end of an illustrious career that spanned over a decade. The 38-year-old left-hander has long been an inspiration for openers around the world, establishing himself as one of the premier batsmen of his generation.

Ever since his breakthrough performances during the 2013 Champions Trophy, where he was instrumental in India’s title win, Dhawan cemented his place as a stalwart in the Indian cricket team. His aggressive yet composed style at the crease made him a mainstay in the top order. However, Shikhar Dhawan’s international journey concluded in 2022 when younger talents like Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan took center stage, gradually replacing the veteran in India’s lineup.

Despite this, Dhawan remains content with his decision to retire, expressing gratitude for the opportunities cricket has provided him. In a heartfelt social media post, he reflected on his journey and the peace he has found with his decision to step away from the game.

In the wake of his retirement announcement, Dhawan was asked about the possibility of a biopic being made on his life. Embracing the idea, Dhawan mentioned that he would be excited about a film capturing his journey, but only if it’s done with care and authenticity. He even suggested Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar or Ranveer Singh as potential actors to portray him, praising their energy and versatility.

Shikhar Dhawan humorously added that he wouldn’t mind acting in the biopic himself, provided he could add value to the film. When asked about the potential loss of fame following his retirement, Dhawan confidently dismissed the notion.
