Delhi Capitals opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan was happy as his team managed to pull off their first win over the defending champions Mumbai Indians since March 2019 in a low-scoring game in Chennai on Tuesday. Dhawan flaunted the feel-good factor after registering a win over MI and said that this win will boost Delhi Capitals’ confidence.
Experienced leg-spinner Amit Mishra’s managed to scalp a four-wicket haul along with Dhawan’s crucial 45-run knock which helped DC’s six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians at Chepauk on Tuesday. It was their DC’s 1st win over MI in the last five meetings, having lost four times in IPL 2020.

Dhawan was again top-scored for his side with 45 runs off 42 balls while Smith also returned among the runs, scoring 33 off 29 balls. Once they were back in the hut, Lalit Yadav (22*) and Shimron Hetmyer (14*) made sure that DC get over the line with 5 balls to spare. Dhawan (231 runs) also consolidated his position at the top of the Orange Cap list and became the first batsman to breach the 200-run mark this season.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Shikhar Dhawan said, “Totally opposite to Wankhede, feeling great to win in Chennai, feels good when you can beat a team like Mumbai Indians, the confidence level will naturally go high.”
Dhawan was disappointed at not having finished the game for Delhi Capitals but pointed out that DC put up a complete performance and they deserved to win against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians.

Shikhar Dhawan further elaborated, “We knew that it would be tough for them when the ball gets wet, the spinners would find it hard, wanted to keep the partnerships going, strung together a good stand with Lalit (Yadav), a bit disappointed at not having finished it off. But glad that we ended up winning the game, the way we played, I think we deserved to win.”
