Shikhar Dhawan Pulls Of Sholay Reference For His Picture With Shardul

The veteran Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan took to social media to post a picture with the Indian fast bowler, Shardul Thakur. Thakur is part of the Indian Test squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final and teh following 5-match England Test series. India will be locking horns with New Zealand in the WTC final scheduled to be commencing on June 18 in Southampton.

On Thursday, Team India landed in London on Thursday and reached the on-site hotel at the Hampshire Bowl, the venue for the final. The WTC final will be played between June 18 to June 22 with June 23 kept as a reserve day. Posting the photo on Instagram, Shikhar Dhawan captioned it as, “Gabbar and Thakur off-screen”.

 

The post was well-received by fans even as the Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav commented: “Rare combination”. Dhawan and Thakur recently participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. IPL 2021 eventually got postponed on May 4 after several players and some members of the support staff tested positive for COVID-19.

SunRisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Wriddhiman Saha was among the players who tested positive, but he has recovered since then and is part of India’s WTC Final squad.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Lakshmipathy Balaji and Michael Hussey also came out to be positive for the virus before the tournament was postponed. Even Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Varun Chakravarty and Sandeep Warrier returned with positive results.

Along with the Indian men’s team, the women’s team also traveled to the UK. After the WTC final, the men’s team will be locking horns with England in a five-match Test series starting August 4. The women’s team will have a one-off Test, three ODIs, and as many T20Is against England.
