The veteran Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan along with the middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer have been cleared to train alongside the other Indian players after testing negative for Covid-19. However, they will not be taking part in the second ODI that is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Iyer and Dhawan went through some light training at the Narendra Modi Stadium under the watchful eyes of the BCCI medical team. Young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, however, is still undergoing isolation. Earlier, before the first ODI against West Indies, Shreyas Iyer, Dhawan, Ruturaj, and Navdeep Saini had tested positive for Covid-19.
As a result, all these players had to miss the opening game of the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. The Rohit-led squad defeated the Windies by six wickets in the first ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India will look to seal the series when they take on the West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
