In a thrilling encounter between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, Shimron Hetmyer showcased his athleticism with a spectacular diving catch to dismiss Piyush Chawla during the ongoing IPL 2024 match. Mumbai Indians faced a nightmare start after being put into bat as Trent Boult wreaked havoc in the very first over.

The seasoned pacer sent Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir back to the pavilion for golden ducks, leaving the defending champions reeling at 1 for 2. The misery continued for Mumbai Indians in the second over, with Ishan Kishan trying to provide some resistance against Nandre Burger.

However, Boult struck again in the third over, dismissing Dewald Brevis for a golden duck, further deepening Mumbai’s batting crisis at 14 for 3. Burger joined the onslaught, removing Kishan, leaving Mumbai Indians struggling at 20 for 4 by the end of the fourth over. Despite the early setbacks, Tilak Varma and captain Hardik Pandya formed a crucial partnership, adding 56 runs to stabilize the innings.

However, Yuzvendra Chahal broke the partnership by dismissing Pandya for 34 runs. With Mumbai Indians at 76 for 5 in the 10th over, the decision to send Piyush Chawla ahead of Tim David did not pay off as Chawla could only manage three runs off six balls before Hetmyer’s remarkable catch ended his innings prematurely.

Facing the first delivery of the 12th over from Avesh Khan, Chawla aimed to guide the ball past Hetmyer positioned at a backward point. Despite placing the ball well, Chawla fell victim to Hetmyer’s exceptional fielding as the West Indian leapt to his right and grabbed the ball with both hands to dismiss Chawla.
