“I just wanted to back myself. I knew the first two balls of the over would be crucial,” Shivam Dube said in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. “It had already been decided that I would bowl the last over. I was definitely nervous — bowling the final over of a World Cup semi-final is always challenging.”

Dube’s celebrations also grabbed headlines off the field. With flights unavailable after the final in Ahmedabad, he chose to travel home by train. The all-rounder will next represent Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season. 🏏
