The young Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler, Shivam Mavi, and Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw were seen enjoying a light moment after their encounter in the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Mavi conceded 25 runs in the first over of the second innings as Shaw hit him for six consecutive fours to begin DC’s run chase at Motera’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shaw’s aggressive start against his former U-19 India teammate saw him become only the 2nd batsman in the history of the IPL to smashed 6 fours in an over. No other batsman had managed to do it in the first over of a T20 match before Shaw.

Talking about the same during a show on Star Sports, Prithvi Shaw said, “I wasn’t thinking anything, to be honest. I was just waiting for the loose balls, because even if it’s the first ball, I’m going to hit it. I knew where Shivam is going to bowl because we have played for four-five years now, so I knew exactly where he is going to bowl to me. So I was ready for it and with my instincts, I just went for it.”

But after the game, Shivam Mavi was seen grabbing Shaw’s neck in a light moment during the post-match presentation ceremony. The IPL’s Instagram account even posted a video of the two as they shared a light moment post the one-sided clash. Captioning the post on their official Instagram account, IPL wrote: “Once the match is completed, friendship takes over.”

Shaw played a fiery knock of 41-ball 92 with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes to help DC chase down the target of 155 in just 16.3 overs. He also managed to add 132 runs in 13.4 overs with fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan (46 off 47 balls) which laid the foundation of the chase.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals (DC) did a decent job of restricting KKR for a below-par total of 154 for 6 in 20 overs despite a late blitz (45 from 27 balls) from Andre Russell. Spinners Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked up a couple of wickets each for DC while Avesh Khan and Marcus Stoinis got one each.
