A few days ago, a rain delay during the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) gave fans a viral moment—Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer deep in conversation, seemingly relaxed. But on Sunday, after RCB clinched a dominant seven-wicket win over PBKS, the mood between the two Indian teammates seemed noticeably tense.

The match concluded in style as PBKS wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma hammered a six over deep midwicket to seal the victory with five runs needed. As RCB completed the win on PBKS’ home turf—avenging their earlier loss in Bengaluru—Kohli turned toward Iyer, fist-pumping with visible intensity.

The gesture didn’t sit well with Iyer, who walked up to Kohli for the customary handshake, but the exchange that followed appeared more strained than cordial. Known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, Kohli’s fiery celebrations are no surprise.

Whether it’s a wicket or a match-defining moment, he brings unmatched energy, sometimes blurring the line between passion and provocation. Sunday’s reaction, however, raised eyebrows, particularly since it was directed at a fellow India player and current rival captain.

On the cricketing front, Kohli delivered yet again with the bat. Chasing 158, the former RCB skipper anchored the innings with an unbeaten 73 off 64 balls, including seven boundaries and a six, ensuring his team cruised home with 7 balls to spare.

RCB’s away form remains flawless—they’ve now won all five of their road games. Yet, surprisingly, they’re winless at home. Led by Rajat Patidar this season, they sit third on the points table with 10 points from eight games. Interestingly, five teams are now tied at 10 points, with only net run rate separating them. PBKS are fourth, trailing RCB, while Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals occupy the top two spots.
