The Indian middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer was the star performer with the bat for India in the first innings of the final Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. He played a dominating knock of 98-ball 92. As other Indian batters struggled on the wicket, Iyer took the attacking approach and played freely. His knock of 92 was helped with 4 sixes and 10 boundaries. Iyer batted at a strike rate of 93.88 and kept the scoreboard ticking on a track that was assisting the spinners.
Shreyas Iyer completed his half-century in style as he smashed a huge six to breach the 50-run mark. Realizing the importance of the knock, Iyer decided to celebrate in style and removed his helmet after his second fifty in Test cricket. Most of the batter remove their helmets only after reaching the three-figure mark.
