In a riveting showdown at the Eden Gardens Stadium, the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals unfolded into an edge-of-the-seat thriller, ultimately seeing the Royals clinch victory by a slim margin of two wickets. Adding salt to the wound of defeat, Kolkata Knight Riders faced further adversity as their captain, Shreyas Iyer, incurred a fine for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match.
This transgression marked the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, resulting in a fine of INR 12 lakhs for Iyer. Reflecting on the game’s twists and turns, Iyer described the roller coaster of emotions it evoked, highlighting the unpredictable nature of cricket. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the importance of extracting lessons from the experience and forging ahead.
“It’s a funny game at the end of the day,” remarked Shreyas Iyer, “have to take it on the chin and move on. It’s good that it happened now rather than it happening in the later stages of the tournament, good learning for us.”
