The Indian opener, KL Rahul is going through a purple patch in his career as he has produced some match-winning performances both with the bat and the gloves. He did an impressive job in the T20I series against the BlackCaps and he continued his form in the ODI series as well. 

Now, Shreyas Iyer shared his conversation with Rahul while they were batting. Iyer (103) scored a brilliant century against New Zealand that helped the Indian team in posting a good total of 347 runs for a loss for four wickets. Both of them added as many as 132 runs for the fourth wicket with Rahul (88).

At one point in the first ODI, the Men in Blue were left struggling after they lost their top-order batsmen Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal, and Prithvi Shaw until the 29th over with the scoreboard reflecting 154/3.

However, Iyer and Rahul looked quite settle when he came out to bat in the middle. He was not finding any difficulty while scoring runs against the Kiwi bowlers. The moment Rahul smacked his first six for the match, Shreyas asked if he is seeing the ball like a football. And, he nodded with a quirky smile.

As per the quotes in DNA, Iyer said, “The time KL Rahul came in and the first six he hit, I literally asked him on the field ‘Are you seeing the ball like a football?’ and he just nodded and laughed over it. He’s been in tremendous touch and there’s a lot to learn from him as well, as a batsman, the way he plans his innings and takes on the bowler.”

After losing the series opener, now Team India will be playing the 2nd ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on the 8th of February.
