India’s star batter Shreyas Iyer recently hit back at several media outlets for circulating reports that claimed he would miss Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game due to injury. Iyer, who has already played two Ranji games for Mumbai against Baroda and Maharashtra, scoring 172 runs across three innings at an impressive average of over 57, took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air. He expressed frustration at the publications for not verifying their information before spreading such news.

“Guys seriously let’s do some homework before publishing news,” Iyer tweeted, emphasizing the need for responsible reporting.

Shreyas Iyer has been in the spotlight not only for his performances on the field but also due to concerns about his back injury, which had previously sidelined him for an extended period. After scoring a match-winning century against Maharashtra, Iyer opened up about the challenges he faced while managing his injury and how he has focused on maintaining his fitness.

In a candid statement, Shreyas Iyer shared how he has tried to block out external noise regarding his fitness. “No matter what people think outside, I have to listen to my body. I know the threshold I’ve carried over the last few years. Based on that, I will make the right decisions, and I hope my team will back me. I’m in a good space right now,” he said in an interview with Sportskeeda.

Iyer further added that the recent matches he’s played have helped him regain his fitness. “This is my seventh match on the trot, and yes, the body has taken a lot of load. But we have to manage it strategically,” he concluded.
