The flamboyant Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer smashed a six like a tennis style forehand smash down the ground during India’s second T20I against Sri Lanka at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. With that shot against Chamika Karunaratne, he brought up his third fifty in his last four innings, this time it came in 30 balls.

Shreyas Iyer played another match-winning knock of India

Chamika Karunaratne, who will play under Shreyas for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the upcoming 15th edition of the  Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, banged in a slower delivery short and outside off. Shreyas was expecting that kind of delivery and lined it up before smashing a flat-batted shot straight over long-on for a six. The ball incidentally thudded into the advertisement board on the full.

Earlier in the game, Sri Lanka gave India a target of 184 runs with their skipper, Dasun Shanaka smashing a fiery half-century. Eventually, the hosts managed to chase down the total with 17 balls to spare owing to the brilliant knocks of Shreyas Iyer (74* off 44 balls), Sanju Samson (39 off 25 balls), and Ravindra Jadeja (45* off 18 balls). None of the Sri Lankan bowlers were spared by the Indian middle-order batters.
