Shreyas Iyer produced a batting masterclass under pressure in IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, steering Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) with an unbeaten 87 off just 41 deliveries. On a night when the stakes couldn’t be higher, Iyer’s composure, timing, and shot selection stood out as he guided his side into their first IPL final since 2014.

Facing a stiff target of 204, Iyer led the chase with a stunning display of clean, calculated hitting. His innings included five fours and eight towering sixes, but it was a moment in the 18th over that truly stole the show.

Jasprit Bumrah, renowned for his deadly yorkers, bowled one right on the money — a near-unplayable delivery. Yet, Iyer calmly bent low, opened the face of his bat, and guided it past short third man for a remarkable boundary. The shot left fans and experts in awe, with AB de Villiers hailing it as the “shot of the IPL.”

With this victory, PBKS move into the IPL 2025 final, where they’ll face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3. If Iyer continues this form, he could very well script one of the most memorable campaigns in PBKS history.
