The Indian cricketer team fans seem to be in some tension as some of the players in the T20 World Cup squad are looking off-color in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. While the team management isn’t panicking over the situation, some of the recent reports of the InsideSport, Shreyas Iyer will be expected to be included in the squad as a backup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has till October 10 to make changes to the squad for this year’s T20 World Cup.

There have been concerns over the firm of Mumbai Indians (MI) players, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. As per the quotes in InsideSport, a BCCI source said, “Yes, it is a bit of a concern but we still have few matches left in IPL to get them back in form. Hopefully, they will. Suryakumar has been amongst runs for India so he is not a big concern at the moment. Ishan Kishan too did well in Sri Lanka. Virat also spoke to him on Sunday and let’s see how it goes.”

The source also acknowledged that Shreyas Iyer is being looked at as a backup in a case where the form of Hardik, Suryakumar and Ishan doesn’t improve to the expected level. He explained, “We have Shreyas Iyer as the backup, if there are any concerns, he could be added. But it’s too early to say anything. Ishan Kishan is an important player and so are Suryakumar and others. There is no point speculating.”

While batters Suryakumar and Ishan are going through a rough patch in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, all-rounder Hardik Pandya hasn’t even bowled a single over for MI. Though there are other batters that can be used in the playing XI, there isn’t another all-rounder option available as Hardik’s replacement yet.

Describing the same, the source of InsideSport in BCCI said, “Hardik is recovering and Mumbai Indians have managed him well. We will see how it goes. He is bowling at the nets, so that’s a good sign. Rohit is there, so he knows better how to handle him. You are talking about Hardik and there is no backup at the moment. Shardul and Deepak are good options but they are yet to prove as regular all-round options in T20s. So, Hardik remains the best all-rounder.”

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was even seen talking to Ishan after a recent encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI), with the latter being visibly distraught over his poor form.
