Shreyas Iyer will turn out for Mumbai—briefly, but significantly indeed—when the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament gets underway on Thursday across four venues in Tamil Nadu. The same is going to see some of the best cricketing talent from around the country in action, and Iyer’s presence just adds to the list.
Iyer will be available for the game in Coimbatore from August 27 to 30. He will add more strength to that Mumbai middle order, along with India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav. Iyer’s induction is being looked at as a good opportunity for him to get some useful match practice ahead of more important international commitments.

Confirming the development, Mumbai Cricket Association’s joint secretary, Deepak Patil, told PTI, “Shreyas Iyer will play for Mumbai at the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He will be playing against Jammu & Kashmir from August 27th in Coimbatore.”

Shreyas Iyer came back into the Indian national team during the ODI series in Sri Lanka that put him on the sidelines for quite some time due to an injury. “The domestic showpiece is a much anticipated one for every Indian cricket fan and every selector alike since it gives him a platform to further assert his case of good form and fitness,” the statement added.
