Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta, added a playful twist to Kolkata Knight Riders’ rain-hit IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens, with her viral post quickly grabbing attention on social media. The match in Kolkata was abandoned after just 22 balls due to persistent rain and a wet outfield, leaving both teams with 1 point each.

It was a mixed outcome for the two sides — KKR opened their account for the season, while PBKS climbed to the top of the table. Soon after the washout, Shresta posted an Instagram reel that fans instantly picked up on.

In the clip, she could be heard saying in Punjabi, “Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point,” a line that roughly means Punjab have a big heart and have given away one point. The post was widely seen as a cheeky dig at KKR, especially with Shreyas Iyer’s connection to the franchise after guiding them to the IPL title in 2024 before moving on to Punjab Kings.

On the field, PBKS had made a stronger start after KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bat first. Xavier Bartlett struck twice in the second over, removing Finn Allen for 6 and Cameron Green for 4, and leaving the home side under pressure at 25/2. Rahane was unbeaten on 8, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi was on 7 when rain stopped play for good after 3.4 overs.

For KKR, the washout brought a small relief as they finally collected their first point of IPL 2026 after back-to-back defeats. However, the three-time champions are still searching for their maiden win of the season. Punjab Kings, meanwhile, moved to five points from three matches, with two wins and one no-result.
Kolkata Knight Riders will next face Lucknow Super Giants on April 9, while Punjab Kings take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mullanpur on April 11.
