India defeated Bangladesh by registering a 30-run win in the third T20I at Nagpur and also clinched the series 2-1. The Indian team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma posted a competitive total of 174 runs after electing to bat first. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul reinforced India’s batting order with their impressive innings.
Iyer went on to score 62 runs off 33 balls at a staggering strike rate of 187.88. He got great assistance from KL Rahul also played a crucial 35-ball 52 knock. Bangladesh, after Mohammad Naim’s sole effort, failed to chase down the target. Mahmudullah and his men were restricted to a score of 144 by a formidable Indian bowling line-up. Bangladesh got all out in 19.2 overs, falling short of the target by 30 runs.

Shreyas set the stadium ablaze in the 15th over by smashing three consecutive sixes off Afif Hossain’s bowling. The right-hander went after Hossain, who was bowling his first over of the match. Many fans anticipated that Iyer will be scripting history by smashing six consecutive sixes off the over. However, he ended up playing a dot ball on the fourth delivery and took a single off the next one to bring up his maiden T20I fifty in just 27 balls.
Hossain was left clueless after facing the destructive batting performance of Iyer. After the match, Iyer, on Chahal TV, said that he was looking to find three more sixes in order to make it six in a row.

Talking about his knock, Shreyas said, “I was going for six sixes, but I knew after hitting three, the bowler will throw in a yorker. But, in that situation, you can’t do anything and when you hit three boundaries, you have to go for six sixes, any batsmen would do the same.”

After playing a crucial knock in the third T20I, Iyer has increased his chances to cement his position in the Indian team. He also had played a crucial knock of 24 runs in the second T20I of the series. India eventually registered a dominating eight-wicket win in the match. The Men in Blue will now lock horns with Bangladesh in a two-match Test series beginning from November 14.
