The world has been captivated by the advancements in Deep Fake technology, which has enabled the creation of realistic and potentially misleading images and videos. Unfortunately, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has become the latest victim of this technology, as a morphed image of him alongside Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara has been circulating widely on social media.

The picture, which initially featured Arjun Tendulkar instead of Gill, was manipulated using Deep Fake techniques to replace Arjun’s face with Gill’s. As a result, many fans assumed the image was genuine and began celebrating the couple’s supposed public confirmation of their relationship.

In response to the widespread distribution of this morphed image, India’s Union IT Ministry has launched an investigation and issued a warning to social media platforms, urging them to remove any content that has been altered using AI or Deep Fake technology. This follows a similar trend of morphed images involving Bollywood actresses that have also been shared extensively online.

Despite this incident, Shubman Gill has been on a roll in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, showcasing his batting prowess with an impressive 219 runs scored in six matches. His contributions have made him a crucial asset to the Indian team, providing stability in the top order.

Having defeated formidable opponents like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Pakistan, India appears to be the frontrunner for the coveted World Cup title.

India’s next challenge lies in their upcoming match against the Netherlands, scheduled for Sunday, November 12, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. As the tournament progresses, India’s pursuit of victory remains strong.
