India batting coach Vikram Rathour has backed under-fire batters Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer ahead of the second Test against England in Vizag on February 2. However, Gill and Iyer have been struggling for form in the Test format of the game in recent times. Gill, since moving to the number three spot, has failed to leave a mark. And, his last big score came during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the beginning of last year as well.

However, Shreyas Iyer showed aggression in the first innings but failed to have a good start. He scored 35 and could only get 13 in the second one. But Rathour has backed both of them to perform well in the coming matches. While speaking at the press conference on Wednesday, Rathour said that both of them are good players and there is no question about their ability too. He also said that a dip in form is normal for players and the team management is looking at how they can bounce back.

“There is no question about their abilityâ€æthey are both very very fine players,” concluded Vikram Rathour. “People go through bad forms, bad patches where you don’t score runs as many as you want to. The thing we are looking at is how they are preparing and how their mindsets are. They are preparing really well, they are working hard in nets, having good conversations and right conversations, just a matter of time i believe, one big performance will come from both of them.”
