Vijay Shankar feels that young Shubman Gill has been doing a great job as Gujarat Titans captain by backing the players well after taking up the reins ahead of the IPL 2024 season. This is Gill’s first season as the Gujarat Titans captain side as he took over from Hardik Pandya, who moved back to Mumbai Indians in a big trade as well. He had success in his first outing against MI as GT won the thriller by 6 runs as well.

Speaking to PTI, Vijay Shankar said that Gill has been backing the squad well. “I think he’s been doing really well. The first game went really close, and we were able to pull things back. And the second game was, you know, they batted really well, and a tough game for us. But then, as a captain, it is about backing the players, and I think he’s doing that really well,” said Shankar.

However, he further added that the best thing about GT has been the role clarity that has been provided to him as well.

“Best thing about, GT is the way give role clarity. I’ve always been up and on Ranji Trophy about, like 4,5,6,7 everywhere. So it is always about adapting. So it is a challenging thing, because if you’re going to bat up the order or number three, you know you can prepare in a certain way, but if I’m going to bat four or six or seven, or even five, like you know, you have to be really flexible in adapting to different situations and conditions. So, yeah, it’s been very clear here,” concluded Vijay Shankar.
