The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown for safety and to contain the spread of the virus. Many major sporting events have been postponed or canceled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic affecting the globe. Cricket has also suffered a similar fate with all international and domestic matches canceled. With no cricket going on, cricketers have a lot of free time on their hands right now. Many cricketers have also been proactive on their social media in the past few weeks due to the lockdown. Recently, Indian U-19 World Cup winner Shubman Gill did a live chat session on Twitter with the fans. During the same, the youngster spoke on some interesting topics and revealed his favorite cricketer, footballer, food, and playing for KKR.
During the #AskShubman session, Gill named India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as his favorite batsman. He also mentioned former Australia captain Ricky Ponting as his favorite foreign player. Speaking about his favorite football player, Gill picked Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gill also spoke about his experience of playing for two-time IPL winners, Kolkata Knight Riders. Heaping praise on captain Dinesh Karthik and owner Shah Rukh Khan, Gill said: “DK is a really good leader. SRK always supports us no matter if we win or lose. He doesn’t talk much about the match.”
The 20-year-old also shared his admiration for West Indies Andre Russell for KKR. Gill spoke about his experience of batting with the all-rounder. He said: “From the non-striker’s end, it was like watching the highlights on TV.”
Amid the lockdown, Gill says he misses going out with his friends. The Fazilka-born has also picked Butter Chicken as his favorite Indian food item.

Recently, the Indian team’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma named Shubman Gill as the future of Indian cricket despite having quite a few young players bursting out on the stage with excellent performances. Rohit expressed his desire to see the youngster in the Indian team setup amidst competition citing Gill’s domestic record.
“I think Shubman is a fluent batsman. He is a future of Indian cricket. Whenever he gets a consistent run, he will get confidence. He has a good domestic record. I think we should look to bring him into the side. There is a lot of competition on the side,” Rohit said.
