The young Indian opener, Shubman Gill again threw his wicket away in the ongoing second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies in Port of Spain on the bowling of Kyle Mayers. During India’s chase of 312 runs, India lost skipper, Shikhar Dhawan early in the 11th over and in an attempt of increasing the run-rate, Gill threw his wicket as well.
Earlier in the game, the Windies skipper, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bat first. Both the teams made one change each on their playing XI as Hayden Walsh junior replaced Gudakesh Motie and for India, Prasidh Krishna made way for Avesh Khan, who made his ODI debut.

West Indies posted a good total of 311/6 in their quota of 50 overs owing to a gritty century from Shai Hope and a fifty from Pooran. Coming to the dismissal of Shubman Gill, he was looking to execute a premeditated scoop shot, but the ball was perhaps a bit too short. It was close to a length but Gill had his head down and tried to scoop the ball behind the keeper, Dilshan style.
Shubman Gill went down a bit too early and the ball took the bottom of the bat and it lobbed up conveniently for Mayers to take it. Gill smiled sheepishly while making his way back.
Here is the video of the dismissal of Shubman Gill:
