Veteran England batter Jos Buttler feels that India’s newly appointed Test captain Shubman Gill will be a perfect mix of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, Gill has been appointed as India’s Test captain, after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. He will be leading the team for the first time in the Test format in the upcoming series against England, starting on June 20.

“Yeah, there’s a lot of buzz around this series. The IPL just finished, but even during that, there was huge interest in who’d become India’s next captain. Shubman Gill is now leading the side. He was my captain at Gujarat Titans—an impressive player and a really mature young man,” said Jos Buttler in a podcast with Stuart Broad.

He also revealed that Shubman Gill possesses qualities of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a leader and will be a perfect mix of both the legends as well.

“He’s calm and measured when he speaks. But on the field, he has fight and intensity. He’s passionate. I think he’ll be a mix of Kohli and Rohit. Kohli brought aggression and in-your-face competitiveness, while Rohit is more laid-back—cool, calm, and collected. Shubman feels like he’s somewhere in between. He’s learned from both, but he’s also his own man,” he further added.
