Making their domestic season debut, Puducherry has come in the record book for an impressive and rarest reason but in the U-23 squad. In the Colonel C.K. Nayudu U-23 Trophy (four-day formats), a young left-arm Puducherry spinner Sidak Singh bagged 10 wickets in an innings against Manipur at CAP Siechem Ground (Puducherry).

On Saturday, the 19-year-old Sidak freshened up the memory of former Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who was the only second bowler in Test cricket history to bag 10 wickets in an innings (10/74) and that was against Pakistan at Delhi in February 1999.

In the ongoing match against Manipur, the young left-arm spinner Sidak completed his 10 wickets figure in the very first innings of the match with the bowling figure of 17.5-7-31-10 as Manipur was bundled out for just 71 runs. The first seven wickets, Sidak picked up on the day one (Manipur at the stumps on day one 59/7) and he completed to pick up ten wickets on the day two morning.

In that Manipur innings, only two middle-order batsmen Guniram (20) and Nitesh (15) reached the double-digit scores.

Earlier, Sidak was a Mumbai player who made his professional cricket debut in March 2015 at the age of just 15 years old. In that year, he played seven T20s for Mumbai, all in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Coming to this game, Puducherry were bundled out for 105 runs in reply with the lead of 34 runs at the end of the first innings fights. The no.3 batsman Paras Ratnaparkhe was the highest runs-scorer in that innings with 41 runs, while Sidak (24) was the second highest scorer in that innings. While Manipur had two ducks in their first innings, Puducherry had four ducks in the reply.

In their second innings, Manipur was batting on 51/4 at the end of day two. While Manipur has a lead of 17 runs, Sidak added one more wicket in his column and ended the day with the bowling figure of 10-4-13-1.
