Veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has shared the closing moments of the T20 World Cup 2024 final. He said that Mohammed Siraj had started crying when South Africa were on the verge of winning as they needed 30 off the final 30 deliveries.

Needing 177 to win, South Africa lost two wickets early but steadied the innings and put themselves in a strong position to win the final as well. With 30 required off 30 balls, South Africa faced a huge collapse after Heinrich Klaasen perished for 52. They eventually lost by seven runs, as India won their second T20 World Cup.
Speaking to Sports Tak, Chahal said, “We felt that Heinrich Klaasen would finish the match in 12 balls in T20 World Cup 2024 final. When Hardik dismissed him, we knew we have a chance. Winning that World Cup is the best feeling of my life. The entire nation must’ve cried after that win. Siraj had already started crying when South Africa required 30 runs off 30 balls. I told him match is not over yet. Players cried even during 2019 World Cup semi-final.”

With many players from the squad of the T20 World Cup 2024 part of the upcoming season, Yuzvendra Chahal believes they can handle pressure and win the cup.
“Pressure is definitely there during World Cups because it comes every two or four years. You prepare for that. This team already has players that have won the World Cup and tasted that success. If this team loses, they’ll lose by themselves. There is no other team that can defeat India right now in T20Is. I’m confident 200 per cent,” Yuzvendra Chahal concluded.
