India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has made it clear that there is no immediate plan to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the final Group A fixture against the Netherlands, even though India have already sealed qualification for the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Bumrah was instrumental in India’s commanding 61-run win over Pakistan on Sunday, striking at key moments to dismantle the chase.

His dismissals of Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha shifted momentum firmly in India’s favour, underlining once again why he remains the leader of the pace attack in global tournaments. With workload management a priority, the BCCI’s sports science team has rotated him smartly over the past year, but Kotak suggested there is no preset decision this time.

“Don’t think Bumrah will rest. We will decide later,” Sitanshu Kotak said in the pre-match press conference, keeping the final call open but indicating the spearhead is available.

Kotak also addressed concerns around Abhishek Sharma, who was briefly hospitalised due to a stomach bug and missed the Namibia fixture. Although Abhishek returned against Pakistan and fell for a duck, the coach dismissed any overreaction.

“He wasn’t well. Last game he got out in the first over. We don’t want to overanalyse. He has his plans sorted,” Sitanshu Kotak explained, backing the young opener’s temperament.

Meanwhile, Kotak reserved special praise for Ishan Kishan, whose fluent half-century set up the win against Pakistan.

“He has always been a very confident player… that mindset helps in T20 cricket,” Sitanshu Kotak noted.

Importantly, India are not underestimating the Netherlands.

“From the start of this World Cup, we have seen any team can beat any team. That is why every game is important,” he concluded — a reminder that momentum matters heading into the knockouts.
