Smit Patel To Play For Barbados Trident In CPL 2021

India U-19 world cup winner Smit Patel is all set to be featured in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League 2021 where he will play for Barbados Trident. He was a part of India’s U-19 World Cup-winning team that won the title under Unmukt Chand in 2012 where India beat Australia in the final in Townsville as well.

However, he represented Gujarat, Goa, Tripura and more recently Baroda in the Indian domestic cricket and also played in this year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy too. The 28-year-old cricketer has so far played 28 T20s and scored 708 runs which also included four fifties as well. Along with this, he has 24 dismissals to his name too.

Meanwhile, listed in the Tridents roster as Major League Cricket player, he will also feature in the upcoming American cricket league also. Smit Patel will join legendary players like Chris Morris, Jason Holder, Thisara Perera, Mohammad Amir and a few in the Tridents squad. It is also noteworthy that, Tridents have won CPL twice in the history of the league – in 2014 and 2019 as well.

However, 101 cricketers were picked by six teams for the upcoming CPL 2021 with each of them except Guyana Warriors which is comprised of 17 players. On the other hand, Warriors squad will have 16 players as well. Many international players like Faf du Plessis, Shakib Al Hasan, Shoaib Malik, Morris, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz among others who will take part in the tournament this season as well.

Meanwhile, this is going to be CPL’s ninth season and it will take place between August 28 and September 19 with all the matches to be hosted by Saint Kitts and Nevis as well.
