The much-awaited wedding of Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely, creating a sudden wave of concern among fans and well-wishers. The ceremony was scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 23, in Smriti’s hometown of Sangli. However, the celebrations came to an abrupt halt after Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell ill just hours before the rituals were set to begin.

For Smriti Mandhana, who shares a deeply emotional bond with her father and considers him a pillar of her cricketing journey, his health understandably became the top priority. A day later, on Monday, November 24, fresh reports emerged that added to the anxiety surrounding the family. Smriti’s to-be husband, Palash Muchhal, was also rushed to the hospital after experiencing a sudden dip in his health.

According to initial details, Palash suffered from a viral infection combined with high acidity, which required immediate medical attention. Fortunately, as reported by NDTV, his condition was not serious. After receiving timely treatment at a private hospital, Palash was discharged and returned to his hotel, easing some of the tension around the situation.

Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, shared further clarity on the events leading up to the postponement. He informed the media that Smriti’s father fell unwell early Sunday morning while having breakfast. Although the family initially hoped he would recover on his own, his condition failed to improve, prompting them to call an ambulance. He was immediately taken to the hospital and placed under observation.

Mishra added that Smriti, being extremely close to her father, instantly decided to postpone the wedding until he recovers fully. “This is a big occasion for everyone, and Smriti wants her father to be wonderful before she proceeds with the celebrations. We request everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time,” he said.

Mandhana’s family doctor, Dr. Naman Shah, provided further medical insights. Around 1:30 pm, Shrinivas experienced severe left-sided chest pain, medically known as angina. An ECG and other tests showed elevated cardiac enzymes, indicating cardiac stress. He has been kept under strict observation, with elevated blood pressure also being monitored. If his condition worsens, angiography may be required.

The medical team remains in close touch with Smriti and her family, hoping for stable progress by the next day.
