The outbreak of the Corona Virus has brought the world to a standstill. It has also halted all the sporting events as a safety measure for the people and avoid the mass gathering of crowds. The cricketing calendar has suffered because of the same. With no cricket going on, all the cricketers have a lot of free time on their hands right now. Many cricketers have also been proactive on their social media in the past few weeks due to the lockdown. India women’s team cricketer, Smriti Mandhana joined former England cricketer Isa Guha for a BBC podcast. Speaking at ‘The Doosra’.
Mandhana recalled meeting current Indian captain Virat Kohli and how he shared an inspiring message with her.
Smriti Mandhana recalled her conversation with Virat about the game where he told her that women’s team can inspire a generation of females to take up sports. “He told me that your team (women’s team) can do something in India which men’s team cannot do, that is to change the culture for women in India,” Mandhana said.

She added, “Whenever you feel like missing a gym session. Just think that you can actually inspire a generation of women in India to take up sports not only cricket.”
Mandhana, much like other cricketers across the world, is spending time at home amid the coronavirus pandemic. Indian cricketers are using social media to interact with their fans and keep them entertained during this phase.

Mandhana and has joined hands with fellow teammate Jemimah Rodrigues and started a talk show on YouTube called ‘Double Trouble’. The duo interacted with ace tennis player Sania Mirza. During the interaction, she revealed about her viral “joru ka ghulaam” tweet.
