Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane becomes 30-year-old on today. The right-handed top-order batsman was born on June 6, 1988. Currently, he is the Test vice-captain of Indian cricket team.

After making his debut in the international cricket, Rahane has played 44 Tests, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is for his nation where he has scored 2,883 runs, 2,962 runs, and 375 runs respectively. He is known as a very patience and discipline batsman.

Scoring centuries in each innings of a Test match: Ajinkya Rahane became the fifth Indian batsman to scoring centuries in both innings of a Test match after he achieved that feat during the Test match against South Africa at Feroz Shah Kotla (Delhi) in December 2015. He scored 127 and 100* in that Test match where India won by 337 runs.

Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli were the other Indian batsmen to achieve that feat before him.

 

Most number of catches taken in a Test match: During the Test match between Sri Lanka and India at Galle in August 2015, Ajinky Rahane took a total of 8 catches which is the record number of catches taken in a Test match by a non-wicketkeeper.

 

First batsman to hit six fours in an over in T20 cricket: During an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals at Bengaluru on April 15, 2012, Rajasthan Royals batsman Rahane became the first batsman in T20 cricket to hit six fours in an over as Srinath Aravind (Royal Challengers Bangalore )was bowling that over.

 

Former highest individual runs scorer as an Indian batsman in List A cricket: Before Indian legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s remarkable 200 not out innings against South Africa on February 24, 2010, Ajinkya Rahane was the highest individual runs scorer as an Indian batsman in List A cricket. Rahane scored 187 runs (142 balls) against Maharastra in a Vijay Hazare trophy in March 2008.
