Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricket captain turned Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, recently lauded the batting prowess of Virat Kohli, suggesting that the ex-captain has the capability to notch up a scintillating 40-ball century. Ganguly emphasized the importance of adopting a bold and aggressive approach, particularly in the T20 format, as the Indian team gears up for the impending ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to kick off on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA.

Amid Delhi Capitals’ current position at the eighth spot in the points table, Ganguly stressed the significance of embracing an attacking mindset for the upcoming global tournament. “The most important thing for India is to play without fear. There is no hard and fast rule about age and playing youngsters in T20Is,” Ganguly remarked during a media interaction in Delhi.

Highlighting the timeless abilities of seasoned players like James Anderson and MS Dhoni, Ganguly underscored the essence of fearless cricket, citing Kohli’s potential to deliver a rapid-fire century in just 40 balls. “It is about playing fearlessly and freely in T20Is,” he asserted.

Sourav Ganguly also advocated for a well-balanced mix of youth and experience within the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, emphasizing the importance of considering both IPL and international performances in the selection process. “There needs to be a balance of experience and youth,” he commented, noting the integral role of seasoned campaigners in achieving success.

Embracing an aggressive batting ethos, Ganguly urged the Indian team to unleash their power-hitters, including Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya. “India needs to go out and hit,” he emphasized, acknowledging the exceptional talent and six-hitting prowess of these players.
