On Monday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly reckons that India will be facing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic at least till December 2020 or January 2021. However, with this statement, chances of IPL 2020 happening in India have demeaned further.  Recently, during a conversation with the Indian opener, Mayank Agarwal, who asked Dada about how he is analyzing the coronavirus situation and the BCCI President said that the current situation in India doesn’t seem to be improving soon.

Ganguly said, “I think the next two-three-four months will be a little tough. We will just have to bear it, and by the end of the year or beginning of next year, life should be back to normal.”

In the current scenario, BCCI seems to have figured out to host IPL between September and November window. The board is looking to host in India itself but that with the increase in a number of coronavirus cases in India, chances of hosting IPL in India seems unlikely.

Speaking on the show #DadaOpensWithMayank, the former Indian skipper explained, “I will wait for the vaccine to come out. Till then, yes, we will have to be a little more careful…we know what’s happening and we don’t want to fall sick. Saliva is an issue. Maybe once the vaccine comes out, just like any other illness, everything will be fine.”

Describing the same, Ganguly said, “It’s like batting tactic, it’s not same on all pitches, you play differently on slower pitches, you play differently when it turns and you play differently when it is flat. So COVID is at that stage, the stage of recovery. Hopefully, by the end of this year we all should be fine.”
