On Tuesday, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly made a couple of huge revelations regarding the availability of Indian cricketers ahead of the forthcoming important tour to Australia. As BCCI announced the squads for the upcoming ODI, T20I, and Test series in Australia, last week, it broke out a storm as the name of Rohit Sharma was missing.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper has not played a game since the franchise played a double Super Over battle against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). In the meantime, Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the IPL 2020 with a left internal oblique muscle tear” in his rib cage. Consequently, even Ishant’s name was missing from the BCCI-named squads.

BCCI President has assured that the two are being monitored closely and the selectors would be eagerly looking forward to including the mainstays in the squads. While BCCI would ‘want Rohit to be fit for Australia’, Ganguly said “Ishant is not completely out” of the Australia tour.

As per the quotes in Hindustan Times, Ganguly had said, “We are monitoring Ishant and Rohit. Ishant is not completely out. He will become a part of the Test series. With Rohit, we want him fit for Australia. At some stage, if he is fit, I am sure the selectors will rethink his position. They can be sent later. There are flights to Australia.”

Unlike Ishant, Rohit hasn’t been ruled out of the IPL yet despite his long absence from MI’s playing XI as they are currently standing at the top of the table. Talking about him, Saurav Ganguly said, “We haven’t seen him [Rohit] playing.” Rohit has been nursing a hamstring niggle, should drop out of the IPL.
