Former Indian cricketers Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman will remain the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) till the new BCCI constitution is adopted and the elections are held, the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai has confirmed the news on Monday.

As per latest Supreme Court order, which has been out earlier this month, CoA members Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji met with BCCI’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rahul Johri in Delhi to talk about the new constitution.

Talking about the new CAC, Rai told PTI, “As of now, the existing CAC will continue. Our counsel had sought clarification from the court and when they came to know the existing composition of the CAC, they gave us permission to continue with Sachin, Sourav and VVS till elections are held.”

However, there are few talking points that have been raised the Conflict of Interest issue among the CAC members. While Ganguly is the President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Laxman is serving as a mentor of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as well as an important member in CAB’s VISION 2020 project. Moreover, Sachin’s son Arjun Tendulkar has recently made debut in the U19 cricket.

Talking about the new constitution, Rai has claimed that it is almost ready and will take around a couple of days to finish.

Rai said, “We are almost ready with the new constitution and it will take may be another couple of days.”

After getting 2-0 behind in the ongoing five-match Test series on the English soil, Indian cricket team has brilliantly made a fight back in the third Test at Trent Bridge (Nottingham) and positively looking for a victory. However, Rai claimed that there were no discussions held on Indian cricket team’s performances.

Rai stated, “There wasn’t any discussion held on India’s performance today. Our main focus was on getting the constitution ready. Yes, India’s performance will be analysed but only once they finish the tour.”
