Team India suffered a demoralizing loss against Bangladesh by seven wickets in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi on Sunday. Ahead of the match, there was a lot of chatter regarding the air pollution in Delhi which has been deteriorated to hazardous levels in recent times. The smog settled down in the nick of time for the first T20I to start on schedule.

After the match, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly, took to Twitter to thank both teams for turning up on the field amid health concerns due to the air pollution in Delhi. He tweeted: “Thank u to both the teams to play this game @ImRo45 @BCBtigers under tuff conditions .. well done bangladesh”.

In the match, after winning the toss, the visiting skipper Mahmudullah decided to bowl first citing a heavy dew in the latter half of the innings. India’s stand-in skipper, Rohit Sharma also would’ve preferred the same. India only managed to reach a total of 148/6 in their quota of 20 overs and the visitors chased it down with 7 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare.
